Room 221 geologists worked together in teams to identify rocks today. Each team had 12 cards each with a physical description of a different rock. Third grade geologists carefully read the cards and tried to match the descriptions to each rock. This task was tricky because some of the rocks were very similar. However, all geologists recognized obsidian and marble. The votes on those rocks were unanimous! The class was filled with silent cheers as the actual identity of each rock was revealed. Ask your third grade geologist how many other rocks they correctly identified! Ask your geologist to identify this rock. I bet they can! As a bonus, ask them what type of rock it is: sedimentary, metamorphic or igneous.
